Musketeers Fall to Wildcats on Sunday Evening

Marquia Turner led Xavier with 11 points, her 14th career double-figure game
CINCINNATI- The Villanova Wildcats handed Xavier women's basketball a 72-47 loss on Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center. The Musketeers moved to 10-10 (2-7 BIG EAST), while the Wildcats improved to 11-9 (6-3 BIG EAST).
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, keeping a double-digit lead throughout the majority of the game.
• Martha Thompson posted a career-high three blocks. She added five rebounds in 20 minutes of action off the bench.
• Marquia Turner scored 11 points, putting her at 14 career games scoring in double figures. The junior guard chipped in three assists and three rebounds.
• Anniina Äijänen was only one point and rebound short of her first career double-double, recording nine rebounds and nine points. She went 4-for-8 from the field.
• Marquia Turner led the Musketeers with 11 points, while Maddison Blackwell finished with 10 points. She has averaged 10.7 points per game in seven career games vs the Wildcats with a .596 field-goal percentage.
• The Wildcats started the afternoon off with a 14-6 run, capped by back-to-back three pointers.
• Villanova ended the quarter with a 6-0 run, resulting in a 20-6 Villanova lead.
