Six Track and Field Athletes Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

The Musketeers competed at the conference championships on May 14-15
NEW YORK – A total of six Xavier track and field athletes earned All-BIG EAST honors on Wednesday afternoon for their performances at the conference championships. The two-day meet was held at the SPIRE Institute on May 14-15 in Geneva, Ohio.
Zachary Polk highlighted the all-conference honorees as the sophomore picked up five medals, four silver and one bronze. He placed second in the long jump, high jump, 100-meter dash and the 4x100 meter relay, while placing third in the 200-meter dash.
Polk set a personal-best mark in all four of his individual events and set the school record in the long jump. All told, he has collected 10 medals in two seasons as a Musketeer.
Matthew Bryant, Dimitrious Dimitroff and Sean Farnan were the other members of the 4x100 relay team that took second. Russell Platt tied for second in the high jump with Polk to earn all-conference honors.
Karmen Auble was the lone female athlete to pick up All-BIG EAST honors as the sophomore took third in the heptathlon. She earned 4,002 points in the event – a new school record.
