BIG EAST Announces 2015 Men’s Soccer Championship Format

Tournament will be hosted at the highest seed’s home field for entirety
NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced a new format for the 2015 Men's Soccer Championship this fall. Presented by New York Life and held from Nov. 8-15, the tournament will be played at the highest remaining seed for its entirety.
The final regular season league match will be Friday, Nov. 6 with the announcement of the bracket to follow. The first round matches will begin on Sunday, Nov. 8 with the No. 3 hosting the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 hosting the No. 5 seed.
The top two teams in the regular season standings will receive first-round byes.
Semifinal action starts on Thursday, Nov. 12 as the No. 1 hosts the winner of 4/5 matchup and the No. 2 hosts the 3/6 winner.
BIG EAST Championship Sunday will be held at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 15 at the highest remaining seed's home field. The match will be broadcast on FOX Sports 2, while the BIG EAST Digital Network will carry the first round and semifinals. All times are TBA.
Xavier earned a No. 2 seed in the 2014 BIG EAST Championship, advancing to the final match before falling, 2-1, to Providence on Nov. 16, 2014 at PPL Park in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Musketeers defeated third-seeded Georgetown, 1-0, to reach their first-ever league title match on Friday, Nov. 14, getting a goal in the 64th minute from Jalen Brown.
