Following a weekend in which she hit .630, Alex Smith was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week.

CINCINNATI - For the second time in the last three weeks, Xavier's Alex Smith was named the BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week following a pair of matches at Marquette and DePaul.
In the two matches, Smith combined for 18 kills and a .630 hitting percentage. The senior only recorded one error on the weekend. Smith opened the weekend with six kills and a .417 hitting percent against Marquette. She closed with a stat-popping 12 kills on 15 attempts without an error against DePaul.
Smith won the award two weeks ago after tallying 22 kills and .550 hitting percentage in matches at Villanova and Georgetown. The St. Louis, Mo., native has also been recognized on the weekly Honor Roll twice this season.
The Musketeers are gearing up for the BIG EAST Championship this coming weekend. Xavier, the three-seed, will face two-seed Creighton on Friday at 7:30 p.m.. The Bluejays are hosting the event in Omaha, Neb.
