Volleyball to Compete at Miami (Ohio) Classic

CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team (23-9, 11-2 A-10) is set to play Friday night at in the A-10/MAC Challenge hosted by Miami (Ohio). The Musketeers will face the host RedHawks at 7 p.m. in Millett Hall. On Saturday, XU will play Western Michigan at 2 p.m. to close out the Musketeers' 2007 regular season schedule. Miami (19-8, 13-3 MAC), who received votes in the latest CSTV/AVCA coaches poll, are coming off an upset win over then-No. 15 Ohio in the MAC Tournament finals. With that win, the RedHawks have earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Western Michigan (21-10, 12-4 MAC) earned its first MAC West Division title since 2000 and only the second in school history this season. The Broncos were unset in the quaterfinals of the MAC Tournament by No. 7 seed Eastern Michigan. Xavier still has an opportunity to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament with two solid matches this weekend and will be watching the NCAA selection show on Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
