Xavier's Abbey Bessler picked up her second Rookie of the Week honor of the season.

CINCINNATI - For the second time this season, Xavier's Abbey Bessler was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. Bessler was sensational in the Musketeers two home victories against Villanova and Georgetown last week.
A native of Hebron, Ky. (St. Henry HS), Bessler wowed the crowd with two double-doubles, her 19th and 20th of the season. Bessler notched 18 kills, 16 digs and five blocks to along with four assists and a pair of service aces in Friday's win over Villanova. In a sweep of Georgetown on senior day on Saturday, Bessler had 11 kills, 14 digs and four blocks. Xavier's starting outside hitter averaged 4.14 kills, 4.29 digs and 1.29 blocks per set over the weekend.
Bessler has now garnered recognition six times this season by the conference, including a Rookie of the Week nod on Sept. 30 that she earned following a 20-kill performance against Butler. On four other occasions, the BIG EAST placed Bessler on the weekly honor roll.
Xavier wraps up the regular season with games at Marquette and DePaul this weekend. The Musketeers have already secured a place in the four-team BIG EAST Tournament, which will be hosted by Creighton in Omaha, Neb., Nov. 29-30.
