Nov. 10, 2006
CINCINNATI - In voting conducted among the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Xavier volleyball senior Danielle Skrajewski was named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team. Skrajewski was named to the First Team and honored for her efforts on the court and in the classroom.
Skrajewski, who has a 3.89 cumulative GPA, is no stranger to the team as the outside hitter earned 2005 All-District Third Team honors and was selected to the 2005 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team. The Downingtown, Pa. native currently leads the Musketeers in kills with 347, attempts with 805 and kills per game with 4.08 per contest. She has posted 10 or more kills in 17 of XU's 26 matches this season including five matches with 20 or more kills.
Skrajewski, a biology major with a chemistry minor, is currently in her best season yet as a Musketeer. The outside hitter has recorded 13 double-doubles in 2006 and now has 49 in her career. She tallied a double-double in five-straight matches this season from 9/16-9/29 and became the ninth member of Xavier's 1,000-1,000 club on October 14 against Rhode Island.
Xavier will wrap up its home and A-10 schedule this weekend against Saint Louis and Duquesne. The Musketeers will take on the Billikens on Friday night at 7:00 pm, while welcoming the Dukes on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm. The match against Duquesne will also be Senior Night at Cintas Center as XU will recognize the four years of dedication by seniors Astyn Bjorklund, Ashley Norris and Skrajewski.
