NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Xavier's Michelle Matia has been named the Atlantic 10 Volleyball Co-Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Nov. 9. This is the second weekly award for the junior middle blocker and the fifth overall for the Musketeers this season.

Matia shares the award with Dayton's Rachel Krabacher

Matia posted a blistering .564 hitting percentage for the weekend as Xavier picked up two wins on the road. She tallied a career-high 16 kills to one error in 23 attempts (.652) in a 3-1 win at Charlotte on Nov. 5 and followed with a match-high tying nine kills to two errors in 16 swings (.438) in XU's sweep of Rhode Island on Nov. 7. Matia led the team with 3.57 kills per set and 1.29 blocks per set for the weekend, posting a total of 25 kills and nine blocks.

The Musketeers return to action on Friday, Nov. 12 for their final home contest of the regular season against Temple. XU and TU will square off at 1 p.m. as part of a "doubleheader" in Cintas Center - the men's basketball team hosts Western Michigan Friday at 7 p.m.
