Hoffman Named To The Atlantic 10 Weekly Honor Roll

PHILADELPHIA --- Xavier freshman Meggie Hoffman was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week in women's volleyball for the sixth time this season.

Hoffman, an outside hitter from New Prague, Minn., tallied her 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season in matches at Duquesne and George Washington. She recorded a match-high 24 kills to go along with 15 digs and two blocks in a 3-2 loss at Duquesne. Hoffman followed the next evening with 16 kills, 11 digs, two blocks and two service aces at George Washington. On the week, she averaged 5.0 kills per game, 3.25 digs per game and .50 blocks per game.

With six Rookie of the Week honors, Hoffman matches the Atlantic 10 mark for most Rookie of the Week awards won by a volleyball player. The three others that have also won six Rookie of the Week honors in A-10 history are Jennifer Smuck (George Washington, 1990), Katie Ferriell (Dayton, 1998) and Julia Schlect (Rhode Island,1999)

The weekly awards bring the Xavier total to 18 for the 2002-03 academic year. In the 2001-02 academic year, Xavier athletes won 55 Atlantic 10 weekly awards.
