CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball is heading a few short miles from campus to take on the University of Cincinnati Bearcats Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Musketeers and wear pink as it's UC's Think Pink - Dig for the Cure match.

Xavier (14-8, 6-3 A-10) is coming off of a split weekend in conference action, sweeping the Fordham Rams 3-0 Friday, Oct. 21 before falling to the Rhode Island Rams 3-1 on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Sophomore Sarah Brown is the top attacker for XU, posting 3.18 kills/set. Freshman Aubree Smith has assisted 803 times this season for a 10.04 assists/set average. Junior Stephanie Vorherr is the top passer on the squad with a 4.28 digs/set average. Red-shirt sophomore Alex Smith and senior Michelle Matia head up the blocking department with 0.94 and 0.96 blocks/set respectively. Junior Kaela Jo Freppon is a threat from the service line, having knocked in 27 aces this season (0.41 aces/set).

Cincinnati (16-8, 7-2 BIG EAST) most recently defeated conference foes Pittsburgh (3-0) and West Virginia (3-0) at home. The Bearcats are currently third in the BIG EAST. The Bearcats have a 45-match winning streak at home.

Senior Missy Harpenau and junior Jordanne Scott lead the attack for UC, posting 3.44 and 3.02 kills/set respectively. Freshman setter Caylin Mahoney averages 10.68 assists/set (897 for the season) and she is the most accurate at the net with a .490 hitting percentage (58-9-100). Junior Becca Refenes is a force up front, averaging 1.10 blocks/set. Sophomore Emily Macintyre is the team's leading passer with 325 on the season for a 3.92 digs/set average.



This marks the 29th meeting between the crosstown rivals, but the first match between the two squads since the 2002 season. That year, the two met in the A-10/Conference-USA Challenge where UC was victorious (3-0).
