CINCINNATI - Freshman middle blocker Alex Smith has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the Conference office on Monday, Oct. 12. This is the first weekly honor for the St. Louis, Mo., native and the third for the Musketeers this season.

Smith averaged 3.12 kills per set and hit an impressive .585 in two Conference wins for Xavier over the weekend. She had only one error in 41 attempts and added six blocks on the weekend. On Friday, Smith posted a match-high 13 kills in a sweep over Rhode Island and followed that with a 12-kill, five-block performance in a 3-2 win at Fordham on Saturday.

The Musketeers return to action on Friday as they play host to No. 21 Saint Louis at 7 p.m. in Cintas Center.
