Series Stuff - Dayton
Xavier and Dayton split a pair of regular-season meetings last season, with each team winning on its home court. The Musketeers dropped a four-set decision to the Flyers in the A-10 Tournament Championship, which was hosted by UD. Dayton holds the all-time series advantage, 47-25.
Scouting the Opposition - Dayton
The Flyers are currently ranked 18th in the nation and are riding a four-match win streak since the start of conference action. Dayton opened the season with wins against No. 7 Illinois and No. 11 Pepperdine and all four of the Flyers' losses have come to ranked foes: Ohio State, Western Kentucky, Minnesota and Kansas State. Rachel Krabacher (4.49 k/s), Samantha Selsky (11.65 a/s), Jenna Krafka (4.56 d/s) and Isolde Hannan (1.39 b/s) lead UD statistically and Krabacher is the reigning A-10 Player of the Year.
Last Time Out
Xavier picked up a five-set win over crosstown rival Cincinnati (23-25, 28-26, 25-21, 24-26, 15-9) on Wednesday. Amé White had a team high 17 kills and added 12 digs for the Musketeers. Sarah Brown posted 14 kills and 12 digs and Kelsey Dunaway added 10 kills in the winning effort. Aubree Smith dished out 48 assists, while seniors Stephanie Vorherr and Kaleigh Rougraff each tallied 15 digs.
Smith On Target
Alex Smith has a career-hitting percentage of .327, third all-time at XU. She is currently hitting .347 on the season, the seventh-best average in program history. Smith has been extremely efficient the last six matches, hitting at a .429 clip and averaging 2.30 kills per set.
Brown on the Attack
Brown has posted double-digit kills in each of the last 11 matches. In fact, she has reached double-digits in 15 of XU's 19 matches this season. Brown is averaging 3.49 k/s and 2.68 d/s in Xavier's last 11 contests. The Mineral City, Ohio, native was an All-Conference First Team selection a year ago.
A-10's Department of Defense
Xavier leads the A-10 in opponent hitting percentage, holding teams to a .149 attack percent. XU ranks third in the A-10 in digs (16.07 d/s) and fourth in blocks (2.17 b/s), making it the only team to appear in the top four in both categories.
