A Delightful Dozen

CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team extended its home win streak to 12 as they defeated A-10 rival Temple on Friday, 3-1 (30-27, 30-25, 27-30, 30-23).

Homestanding Xavier took control of the match early winning the first two games despite being out hit by the Owls .256 to .167 in the second game.

After losing the third game, 30-27, and being out hit .349 to .163, the Musketeers pounded Temple in final game by a margin of .368 to .179.

Senior Sara Bachus led the Xavier (10-2, 4-2 A-10) with 24 kills on just 40 attempts (.475 hitting percentage). She added 11 digs and two block assists.

The Musketeers also benefited from another strong performance by freshman setter Molly Martin with 59 assists and three total blocks as well as 17 and 13 kills each by senior Amanda Lang and junior Katey Wygant.

Temple (10-2, 4-2 A-10) was paced by a team-high 24 kills and 14 digs from 2000 A-10 Rookie of the Year, Yamit Haba.

Xavier will next host La Salle on Saturday in the Cintas Center at 7 p.m.
