BOCA RATON, Fla. - The middle blocker duo of Katey Wygant and Kimberly Cockerel each had 13 kills to lead Xavier to a 3-0 (30-24, 30-23, 30-27) win over Bethune-Cookman on Friday the 13th in the Marriott Boca Bash.
Wygant also recorded nine digs and a block assist for Xavier (4-4) who has won four straight matches including two on Friday alone.
Cockerel tallied her 13 kills on just 23 swings to rack up a .435 hitting percentage while also contributing defensively with four total blocks.
Sophomore setter Molly Martin dished out 39 assists on the night, which is her third highest total on the young season.
Freshman Meggie Hoffman saw her streak of three straight double-doubles come to an end, however she did record a match-high 14 digs and was just two kills shy of double figures with eight on the evening.
Xavier did out hit Bethune-Cookman (3-6) in each of the games including a .424 to .270 edge in game two to end the match with a .276 to .180 lead in hitting percentage as well as 53 kills to the Lady Wildcats' 38.
The Musketeers will play another two matches on Saturday to close out the Boca Bash. They will take on Stetson at 2:30 p.m. and host Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m.
