Hillary Otte Named A-10 Player of the Week

CINCINNATI - Junior rightside hitter Hillary Otte has been named the Atlantic 10's Volleyball Player of the Week following her stellar performance at this past weekend's Sports Imports Classic hosted by Ohio State. Xavier took the Classic title after posting a 3-0 opening weekend record behind the strength of Otte, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Additionally, Otte was named one of 10 Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU) Top Performer. These are the first weekly honors for the Erlanger, Ky., native.
Otte finished the weekend with a league-leading 51 kills and .469 hitting percentage. She also added 23 digs, seven assists and eight blocks. Otte averaged 4.25 kills per game, posted 15 or more kills in all three matches and had a .615 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Youngstown State on Aug. 29. She posted a double-double of 19 kills and 10 digs along with five blocks in a 3-1 win over Toledo on Aug. 30.
Up next for the Musketeers is a trip to Atlanta, Ga., for the Georgia Tech Classic Sept. 5-6. Xavier will face Georgia State on Friday at 4 p.m. and host Georgia Tech on Saturday at 5 p.m.
