The Xavier volleyball team fell to No. 18 Michigan 25-18, 25-13, 25-27, 25-23. The Musketeers had several contributors on the night, including red-shirt sophomore Alex Smith who tallied a season-best 10 kills to go with four assisted blocks. Junior Kaela Jo Freppon added four aces, seven kills and 10 digs

Musketeers Fall To Tigers In Big Orange Bash Title Match
In what turned out to be the title match of the Big Orange Bash, Xavier dropped its first match of the season to Clemson in three sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-21). Xavier (2-1) and Clemson (3-0) both defeated South Carolina State and Coastal Carolina to reach the final match of the round-robin tournament with perfect 2-0 records. Amé White and Stephanie Vorherr earned spots on the Big Orange Bash All-Tournament Team.

CINCINNATI - Xavier will host No. 7 Michigan, Clemson and Northern Kentucky in the Xavier Invitational this weekend at Cintas Center. Matches begin on Friday morning and conclude Saturday evening.

The Musketeers open their season with a 7 p.m. meeting with the nationally-ranked Wolverines on Friday evening. XU's match will be the third of the day, following Michigan versus Clemson at noon and Clemson versus NKU at 5 p.m.

Xavier is coming off of its fourth-straight 20-win season, while Michigan enters 2013 after a Final Four appearance last year.

Saturday's matches begin with Xavier and NKU at 11 a.m. and will be followed by Clemson and NKU at 1 p.m. The invitational concludes with Saturday's 4 p.m. tilt between Xavier and Clemson.
