Musketeers Gain A Helping Hand

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University has hired Amanda Ault as the new assistant volleyball coach, Head Coach Floyd Deaton announced Wednesday.

Ault comes to Xavier from Lamar University in Texas where she served in a similar position for the past two seasons as the Cardinals went 41-26 over that span including a 24-11 mark last season as the team advanced to the Southland Conference Championship Game.

"She brings excitement and energy to the team," Deaton said. "Her strengths are my weaknesses and that can only make us better."

Her primary duties will be to coordinate recruiting and travel while working with the setters at practice.

Before her collegiate coaching career, Ault was one of the best all-time setters at Central Michigan University finishing fourth in school history with 2,688 assists. She also had the second best single season assist total in Chippewa history with 1,365.

Ault, who graduated with her bachelor of science degree in health fitness in 1999 from CMU, is a native of Farmington Hills, Mich. As a prep player for Farmington Harrison High School, she was named all-state, all-region and all-conference in volleyball. She also earned four varsity letters in softball and basketball.

She will take to the sidelines for her first match as part of the Musketeer staff on Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. against Rutgers in the James Madison Tournament in Harrisonburg, Va. Ault will host her first home contest as part of the Xavier Invitational on Sept. 7 vs. Liberty at 10 a.m.
