Smith adds another honor to her Xavier volleyball career.

CINCINNATI - Xavier's Alex Smith picked up one more award to add to the mantle following her illustrious career as a Musketeer, earning the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Women's Sports Association's (GCNKWSA) College Sportswoman of the Year award for volleyball.
Smith closed her career as Xavier's all-time leader for career attack percentage (.356), an impressive feat considering she also played in more matches than any other Musketeer in program history (140).
The native of St. Louis, Mo., helped guide Xavier into its inaugural BIG EAST season this year. Smith earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention status after posting a program-record .414 hitting percentage and leading XU to a second-place regular-season finish in the league.
In addition to garnering All-America Honorable Mention accolades, Smith was named AVCA All-Region First Team and All-BIG EAST First Team in 2013 and was also a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team (2011 and 2012) and 2009 A-10 All-Rookie Team member during her career.
Xavier's volleyball program is replacing one GCNKWSA Sportsperson with another. Though Smith is departing due to graduation, the Musketeers are gaining the services of Kristen Massa next season. Massa was tabbed the GCNKWSA High School Sportsperson of the Year for volleyball after wrapping up her prep career at St. Ursula. Massa is part of a highly touted six-person recruiting class coming to Xavier next fall.
