White led Xavier with 12 kills

CINCINNATI -The Xavier volleyball team ended its 2011 regular season with a quality win over the NCAA Tournament bound Lipscomb Bisons, 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 25-17), at Cintas Center on Saturday afternoon. The occasion was bittersweet as it was the final home match for seniors Michelle Matia, Kathryn Traut and Emily Mayers.
With the win the Musketeers move to 21-10 on the season and have remained spotless at home for only the second time in school history. Xavier went 9-0 during the 2011 campaign. The Bisons drop to 20-10 as they head into the NCAA Tournament.
Junior Amé White led the attack for the Musketeers with a career-high tying 12 kills off of a .409 clip. Sophomore Kelsey Dunaway was also in double figures in kills with 11 to go with her service ace, solo block and assisted block.
Freshman Aubree Smith had 40 assists in three sets of play before junior Stephanie Vorherr overtook the setting duties. Playing the front row for the first time all season, Vorherr was able to notch her first career assisted block in the fourth set to go with her two service aces, nine assists and 19 digs. Sophomore Sarah Brown was shy of a double-double notching nine kills and a match-high 24 digs. Red-shirt sophomore Alex Smith had nine kills as well to go with a sensational day in the blocking department (two solo blocks and six assisted blocks).
Lipscomb was led by Kaycee Green who had a match-high 15 kills, while Lauren Ford added 10 kills.
Xavier outhit Lipscomb .222 to .189 and also won the blocking battle 12 total team blocks to six.
