White tied her career-high in kills with 10

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Xavier volleyball team finished the 2011 regular season with a sweep of the Temple Owls (25-17, 25-19, 25-22) Sunday afternoon to secure a No. 2 seed and first-round bye in the Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship. Junior Amé White tied her career-high in kills with 10.
"It was great for us to bounce back," said head coach Mike Johnson. "We have talked all year about dealing with adversity and despite using different lineups, we played very well."
With the win, the Musketeers move to 19-10 on the season and 11-4 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Owls fall to 8-20 this year and 4-11 in conference action.
White matched her career high of 10 kills off of a team-best .588 clip (10-0-17). The junior also added in two total blocks off of four assisted blocks, a service ace and two digs.
Red-shirt sophomore Alex Smith and sophomore Kelsey Dunaway each added nine kills, while sophomore Sarah Brown tallied eight. Smith had a .471 hitting percentage (9-1-17) and added three total kills (two solo blocks and two assisted blocks). Dunaway knocked in two service aces and two digs. Brown notched a solo block, two assisted blocks and eight digs.
The Musketeers outhit the Owls .301 to .119, notched 47 kills to TU’s 31 and had 10 total team blocks to the Owls’ three.
