CINCINNATI - Xavier dropped a four-set match (25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18) to No. 18 Dayton on senior night at Cintas Center. Despite the loss, Xavier (19-10, 11-3 A-10) finished second in the A-10 regular season and earned a first-round bye in next week's A-10 Championship. Dayton (23-4, 14-0 A-10) completed an undefeated conference schedule and earned the tournament's No. 1 seed.

Aubree Smith paced a balanced Xavier attack that saw four players finish with double-digit kills. Smith handed out 51 assists on the evening, averaging an exceptional 12.75 assists per set.

Alex Smith led the Musketeers with 15 kills and a .500 hitting percent. Smith entered the match ranked second in the A-10 in hitting percentage (.381).

With 12 kills and a match-high tying 22 digs, Sarah Brown demonstrated her versatility. Amé White added 11 kills (.292 hitting percentage) and Alex Blair chipped in 10 (.450 hitting percentage) to round out the Musketeers with double-digit kills.

Libero Stephanie Vorherr passed 15 digs in the match to move into second-place all-time on the A-10 digs list. Vorherr entered today's matches trailing George Washington's Candace Silva-Martin by 27 digs.

Prior to the match, the careers of Kaela Jo Freppon, Elizabeth Lucich, Kaleigh Rougraff, Vorherr and White were honored in front of nearly 1,300 fans.

The Musketeers will await the winner of the VCU-Butler quarterfinal match-up in the A-10 Championships. Xavier's semifinal match will be played at 3:30 on Saturday, Nov. 17. VCU earned the No. 3 seed with a 10-4 conference record and Butler advanced as the sixth seed at 7-7 in conference play.
