CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team fell to crosstown rival Cincinnati in four sets Tuesday night at Fifth-Third Arena (22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20). Sophomores Sarah Brown and Kelsey Dunaway led the attack while senior Kathryn Traut had a season-best performance at the net.

Brown registered her third double-double of the season, notching 11 kills and 13 digs. This marks Brown's 10th double-digit kill match of the season. The Mineral City, Ohio native led the team with a .550 hitting percentage (11-0-20). Dunaway added 10 kills, six digs and an assisted block.

Traut totaled three total blocks (one solo and four assisted), her best outing of the season, while also adding in five kills. Red-shirt sophomore Alex Smith was one kill shy of her seventh double-digit kill match, recording nine kills. The Saint Louis, Mo., native also assisted on four blocks.

Freshman Aubree Smith had 38 assists to go with her five kills, seven digs and three assisted blocks. Juniors Stephanie Vorherr and Kaela Jo Freppon both passed 13 digs.

UC was led by Jordanne Scott, Missy Harpenau and Emily Hayden who notched 16, 15 and 11 kills respectively. Caylin Mahoney had a match-high 45 kills and five assisted blocks.

With the setback, the Musketeers fall to 14-9 overall on the season while the Bearcats' record improves to 17-8. UC continues its home-winning streak, the longest in the country, with 46 consecutive victories at home.
