CINCINNATI - In a spirited contest between Crosstown rivals, Aubree Smith's near triple-double led Xavier volleyball by Cincinnati in four sets (25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 25-16). Smith finished the match with 32 assists, 10 digs and nine kills.

"I thought we played well in spurts tonight," said head coach Mike Johnson. "Credit to our team for doing what we had to. Now we must grow from here."

Xavier (13-8) jumped on top of Cincinnati (0-21) in the first set and cruised to a 25-15 win. After a hiccup in the second from, a 25-22 loss for XU, the Musketeers responded with a 25-22 win in the third set and then put away the Bearcats, 25-16, in the fourth.

Abbey Bessler notched her team-leading 14th double-double of the season. The outside hitter had a match-high 15 kills, while adding 14 digs. Makayla Agin also reach double-digit kills with 10.
