Freppon notched a stellar six service aces

NEW YORK -The Xavier women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Fordham Friday night (25-15, 25-11, 25-14) at Rose Hill Gym. The Musketeers were led by sophomores Sarah Brown and Kelsey Dunaway and junior Kaela Jo Freppon offensively.
With the win the Musketeers move to 14-7 on the season and 6-2 in Atlantic 10 action. With the loss, Fordham drops to 5-18 on the year and 2-6 in conference play.
Brown led the match with 10 kills and had a .625 hitting percentage (10-0-16). Brown also recorded a service ace as well as an assisted block and three digs. Freppon had a whopping six service aces, a career-high, to go with her nine kills, six digs and two assisted blocks. Dunaway also added nine kills to go with her three assisted blocks.
Freshman Aubree Smith was perfect on the attack going 6-of-6 for a 1.00 hitting percentage. Smith also tallied 36 assists, four digs and two assisted blocks. Sister Alex Smith also notched six kills while helping out on three blocks. Junior Stephanie Vorherr added a match-high 12 digs.
The Rams were led by Brittany Daulton who had six kills on a .214 hitting average (6-3-14).
Xavier had a stellar .507 hitting percentage on the match (43-5-75) and help Fordham to .014 (18-17-73). The Musketeers also out-blocked the Rams, notching seven team kills for Fordham's one.
