FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After winning the first set in extra points, the Xavier volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (29-27, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18) decision at IPFW Tuesday night in a mid-week non-conference match-up. Junior Kelly Ruth posted a double-double on the night for the Musketeers, including a career-high 27 kills to go along with 12 digs in the losing effort.

Also for the Musketeers, senior Jenn Welsh posted a double-double with 52 assists and 10 kills. Junior Hillary Otte tallied 11 kills while sophomore Claire Paszkiewicz got under 12 digs for the match.

Xavier (11-8) won the first set of the match, 29-27, but IPFW (10-9) captured three straight sets to take the match. The stat sheet was relatively even as the Mastodons out-killed the Musketeers by the slime margin of 65-62 while the digs were dead even at 62-all. IPFW posted 13.0 total team blocks to Xavier's 6.0.

The Mastodons were led by Rebekah Roehm with a team-high 25 kills while Jamie Schwartz posted a match-high 21 digs. Taryn Parker recorded three solo blocks in the match in addition to three assisted blocks as well.

Up next for the Musketeers is another Atlantic 10 home stand with two A-10 matches at Cintas Center this weekend. XU will welcome Fordham on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. and Rhode Island on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m.
