Three Musketeers Post Double Double in Xavier Win

CONWAY, S.C. - In the second match of the Microtel Inn and Suites CCU Invitational for the Xavier volleyball, XU team downed North Florida in four games to improve to 2-0 on the weekend. The Musketeers used three double doubles to take the match with scores of 30-22, 28-30, 30-24 and 30-26 over the Lady Ospreys. With the win, the Blue and White improve to 5-7 on the season, while North Florida drops to 7-6 overall.

Danielle Skrajewski led the way once again for the Musketeers as the senior posted her 39th double double of her career and finished with a career-high 25 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Lauren Kaminsky earned the second double double on the morning and notched the fourth of her career with 10 kills and 14 digs. The final Musketeer to earn the honor was junior Jenni Horvath who notched her first with a career-high 14 kills and career-high 17 digs.

Freshman Kelly Ruth also posted a career-high 16 kills, while junior Jill Quayle rounded out the XU offense with 11 kills. Sophomores Megan Hellman and Jenn Welsh added 11 and 12 digs, respectively to pace the remaining XU defenders.

As a team, Xavier posted a season-high 78 kills, 72 assists and 85 digs. The .339 hitting percentage was the third highest of the season.

Xavier now own the 1-0 advantage in the all-time series as this was the first meeting between the two schools.

The Musketeers will return to the court this afternoon as they wrap up the weekend against East Tennessee State at 4:30 pm. ETSU holds a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series against the Blue and White.
