Volleyball Falls to Western Kentucky, 3-1

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -The Xavier volleyball team dropped a tough match, 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-17), against Western Kentucky in the opening match of the Western Kentucky Tournament at E.A. Diddle Arena. Junior Amé White had a career-high day at the net, while sophomore Sarah Brown was able to register a team-best 11 kills.
Xavier (4-3) saw several powerful plays come out of White. The Salt Lake City, Utah native was able to collect eight kills for a .261 attack percentage, while also collecting four digs, an assisted block and a solo block. There were multiple times throughout the game that White was able to keep a rally alive for the Musketeers including a pancake dig in the second set followed by a kill to bring Xavier within two (23-21).
Brown's 11 kills were good for a .200 hitting percentage while also notching a service ace and seven digs. Senior Michelle Matia added eight kills and two and a half total blocks (one solo, three assisted). Freshman Aubree Smith assisted 23 kills, while junior Stephanie Vorherr added a career-high 12 assists. Vorherr got under 15 digs and added a kill.
