KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Xavier volleyball team dropped its season opener Friday night, 3-0 (17-25, 15-25, 23-25), to No. 19 Tennessee in UT's Thompson-Boling Arena in XU's first match of the Comcast Lady Vol Classic. Senior setter Claire Paszkiewicz posted a double-double for XU with 27 assists and 10 digs.

Also for the Musketeers, senior outside hitter Shannon Voors led XU with a match- and career-high 14 kills while classmate Chelsea Campbell and freshman Kelsey Dunaway each added six kills as well. Sophomore Stephanie Vorherr got under a match-high 17 digs.

The Lady Vols were led by Nikki Fowler with 13 kills and Kelsey Robinson with 16 digs. Deedee Harrison was strong at the net with two solo blocks and three assisted blocks for Tennessee.

The Musketeers return to action Saturday morning with a 10 a.m. contest versus Virginia Tech in XU's second match of the weekend. In the nightcap, Xavier will square off against Chattanooga at 5 p.m.
