Xavier volleyball head coach Mike Johnson has announced the addition of former Musketeer Claire Paszkiewicz to his staff for the 2011 season. Paszkiewicz, a 2011 XU graduate, will be serving as assistant coach. "Claire brings incredible enthusiasm and a tireless work ethic into the start of her coaching career," commented Johnson. "During her playing days, I leaned on Claire for leadership as heavily as any kid that I have been around. She has already earned the respect and trust of the team and has already developed a keen coaching eye for someone of her age. I expect her transition from player to coach to be seamless and we are thrilled to have her!" Paszkiewicz will primarily be responsible for training setters along with offensive scouting and in-match coordination. She will also be responsible for all volleyball operations and statistical analysis.
The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native spent the past four seasons as part of the Xavier volleyball team serving as the floor captain in the setter position. She finished her career as one of only two Musketeers ever to surpass the 3,000 assists-1,000 digs mark and ranks fifth on XU's all-time assists list with 3,303. Over her four years at XU, Paszkiewicz played in 429 sets over 124 matches, which ranks 10th-most in XU history. She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team in 2009 and 2010 and earned A-10 All-Tournament Team honors in 2009. |
