CINCINNATI - Xavier tennis head coach Eric Toth announced on Monday that he has received National Letters of Intent from Sydney Liggins and Cristina DiLorenzo. The two nationally-ranked recruits will join the Musketeers in the fall of 2013.
"Sydney and Cristina are outstanding additions to our program. They are the exact type of student-athlete we want representing Xavier University," Toth said. "We are fortunate they chose Xavier. They will fit in really well with the existing girls we will have in our program next fall. Although our focus is the upcoming 2013 season, it is exciting to see our ability to entice top talent to Xavier and that the future of our program is in very good shape for the next several years."
Liggins is a four-star recruit out of Caledonia, Mich. where she plays at Grand Rapids Catholic Central. She is ranked 84 nationally and third in the state of Michigan by TennisRecruiting.net. As a junior Liggens was a runner-up in the MHSAA Division 3/Class C State Singles Tournament. She is expected to contend for the title during her senior season.
DiLorenzo is also a four-star recruit from New Albany, Ohio. She is ranked 111th nationally and third in the state of Ohio by TennisRecruiting.net. This past fall, during her senior season, DiLorenzo won the OHSAA Division I State Doubles Tournament with her sister, Francesca.
Xavier's season begins on Jan. 18 when the Musketeers play host to Detroit.
