Women's Tennis Returns To Court At Michigan State

CINCINNATI - After having last weekend off the Xavier women's tennis team returns to the court for the 23rd Annual Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational beginning this Friday.
Xavier will have 10 athletes in seven singles draws and field five teams in one of the three doubles draws for the tournament that runs until Sunday. The 12-team tournament will be held at the outdoor tennis courts on campus, depending on the weather.
Freshman Alex Brinker and sophomore Daniella Patton will represent the Musketeers in the Draw A singles. The duo has spent the fall playing the toughest competition and has amassed an 8-3 combined record in singles play.
Junior Andrea Wolf and senior Kally Alkire will play in the Draw B singles for the Musketeers and junior Allyson Westling and Lizzie Oosterbaan will play on opposite sides of the Draw C singles. Freshman Megan Morris is the lone Xavier player in the Draw D singles and freshmen Caitlin Lawless and Brooke Dennis are schedule to play in Draw E. Senior Natalie Handler will play in the Draw F singles.
The combination of Alkire and Brinker will team up once again for Xavier in the Draw A doubles. The two have a 4-2 record this season and won the doubles championship at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic to start the fall.
Wolf and Westling as well as senior Katie Pleiman and Patton are situated in the Draw B doubles round. In the Draw C round Xavier will have Dennis and Oostermaan and Handler and Morris.
The other teams that will be represented include Akron, Ball State, Cleveland State, Dayton, Illinois-Chicago, IPFW, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Purdue, Toledo and Wisconsin.
