Women's Tennis Headed To Bowling Green Invitational

CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team returns to action for its second fall tournament this weekend at the Bowling Green Invitational.
Eight other teams in addition to Xavier will be playing in the two-day flight tournament that begins on Friday. The other schools competing are Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Duquesne, IPFW, IUPUI, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo. Only individual and doubles flight champions will be crowned.
Freshman Alex Brinker will play in Flight one singles after going 2-1 in her first collegiate tennis matches at the Marquette Tennis Classic. Sophomore Daniella Patton, who earned singles runner-up honors with a 3-0 record last weekend, will take the number two spot for Xavier and junior Andrea Wolf will play singles in the third flight.
Senior Kally Alkire, sophomore Lizzie Oosterbaan, junior Ally Westling and freshman Megan Morris round out the top seven competitors for the Musketeers. Freshman Brooke Dennis and senior Natalie Handler will play an additional match at the tournament.
In doubles action Xavier will team Alkire with senior Katie Pleiman for flight one, Brinker and Westling for the second flight, Patton and Wolf for flight three and Dennis and Oosterbaan for the last flight.
Play begins at 9 a.m. each day at Keefe Courts located on Bowling Green's campus.
Last year at the invitational Wolf and Westling each won their flight championships. Pleiman also reached her flight championship.
