CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team will travel over the river this weekend to open their 2013 fall schedule at the Northern Kentucky University Invitational in Highland Heights, Ky. Competition takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex.
Returning to lead the court this season is Alex Brinker, Daniella Patton and Lizzie Oosterbaan. Brinker began her rookie season by recording a 9-5 record during the fall schedule. She finished with an overall record of 33-7, while being named the Atlantic 10 Conference Most Outstanding Rookie Performer.
Patton registered an overall record of 21-14 and finished the season with a six-match win streak. In doubles Patton found success with partner Allyson Westling in the fall season posting a record of 8-4. Oosterbaan ended her 2012-2013 season by winning six of her last seven matches, and posting a 5-1 record in Atlantic 10 play.
This is Xavier's first time competing in the NKU Invitational. Other teams participating are Northern Kentucky, Dayton, Belmont and Morehead State. Matches will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
