NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Xavier freshman Katie Pleiman was named the Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer while sister, junior Christie Pleiman earned a spot on the women's tennis Academic All-Conference team the Atlantic 10 Conference announced Friday. Junior Tifanie Treece was also selected First Team All-Conference and senior Jill Ducro was selected Second Team All-Conference.
Pleiman joins Lauren Clary (2002) as the lone standouts in program annals to garner Most Outstanding Rookie distinction. The Dayton, Ohio, native compiled a 23-7 overall record in singles play, including a 15-4 mark in dual matches at No. 1 singles. Pleiman teamed with sister Christie to amass a 13-3 record at No. 3 doubles, highlighted by wins over Charlotte (8-1) and Duquesne (8-5) at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship.
Treece earned a First Team All-Conference award after posting an 11-10 singles record and an 8-11 doubles record in 2010. Most of her singles wins came at the No. 2 position where she posted a 7-10 record.
Ducro earned a Second Team selection in her final year at Xavier. The Cincinnati native compiled a 15-8 singles record including a 10-7 mark in the third singles position. In doubles action, she compiled a 17-6 record including a 16-6 mark with Kally Alkire.
Christie Pleiman earned Academic All-Conference honors after a stellar season both in the classroom and on the court. Pleiman holds a 3.9 GPA while majoring in Economics. On the court in 2010 she led the team in doubles wins with an 18-5 mark, including a 16-4 overall record with sister, Katie. In singles play she finished with a 6-4 record.
