Xavier Closes Out Home Slate On Tuesday

CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team looks to close the books on a successful home schedule when it hosts Wright State beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lunken Playfield Tennis Courts.

The match will be the final home contest for seniors Kally Alkire, Katie Pleiman and Natalie Handler. The trio will be honored in a ceremony after the conclusion of the match.

Xavier has enjoyed outstanding success in Cincinnati this season having dropped only one match. The Musketeers are 14-5 overall and are 8-0 against Atlantic 10 opponents.

Pleiman is having another outstanding season for the Musketeers in her final season. The No. 1 singles player is 14-5 and 10-7 with Alkire as her doubles partner. Alkire has split time between the three and four spot.

Freshman Alex Brinker hopes to maintain her winning streak on Tuesday. The Granger, Ind., native is 18-1 and has won 17-straight matches at the No. 2 singles spot.

Xavier has won seven of its last eight matches and is coming off victories over Fordham and Rhode Island this past weekend.

Wright State is 6-12 and has lost its last three matches. The Raiders have been led by Alex Bastock and Kayla Tuscany this spring.

Xavier also faces Northern Kentucky on Wednesday. The Norse are 0-14 in their first year of Division I play. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
