Eastern Michigan Posts 4-3 Win over Xavier

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University women's tennis team recorded three wins in singles action on Sunday versus Eastern Michigan University, but the Eagles picked up the crucial doubles point to earn the 4-3 win over Xavier. Xavier drops to 4-6 with the loss while Eastern Michigan improves its record to 5-4. Eastern Michigan recorded the key doubles point with a sweep of the three matches. At No. 1, XU's Kristen Clary and Kara Courtney fell 8-6 to Vanessa Frankowski. In the second position, Sarah Potts and Emily Tuchscherer dropped an 8-3 decision to Aditi Krishnan and Elizabeth Syrova while EMU's Laura Fernandez and Flavia Micati topped Jeanette Feider and Kate Lohner at No. 3, 8-3. At No. 1 singles, Clary improved to 15-5 on the season with a straight-set defeat of Syrova, 6-2, 6-1. Courtney moved up to the second spot in the lineup where she recorded a 6-4, 6-3 win over Krishnan. In the fifth spot, Tuchscherer picked up XU's third singles win with a 4-6, 5-5 (default) win over Catherina Bestahorn. Xavier will be back in action on Friday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. when the Musketeers play host to St. Bonaventure at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club. -XU-
