CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team is spending its spring break off the mainland and will face No. 69 Hawaii and San Diego State on consecutive days in Honolulu beginning Wednesday.
The Musketeers (7-2, 2-0 Atlantic 10) have won their last two matches by 6-1 scores and will face their first nationally-ranked opponent in the Rainbow Whanine at the UH Tennis Complex beginning at 3 p.m. HT. Xavier will face the Aztecs at 10 a.m. HT on Thursday.
Senior Katie Pleiman and freshman Alex Brinker top the Xavier lineup and have gone a combined 15-3 in singles matches this year. Pleiman picked up the A-10 Performer of the Week award last Tuesday and Brinker has won eight-straight matches.
Despite their ranking Hawaii is just 2-9 on the season and return home after an extended trip to California. Katarina Suworowa leads the Bows with a 5-2 singles mark and has won four straight.
The Aztecs are 4-3 on the season and picked up a win in their last match and have played four ranked opponents in their last five matches.
