CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team will wear special pink uniforms when it hosts Cleveland State on Friday to support the Pink Ribbon Girls, a local foundation that provides personalized support to young women battling breast cancer.
The match begins at 7 p.m. at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
Xavier returns to Cincinnati after picking up its second Atlantic 10 victory of the season on Wednesday. The Musketeers earned a 6-1 victory over Butler to improve to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Freshman Alex Brinker has a six-match winning streak going heading into the match against the Vikings (1-4). Senior Katie Pleiman - the Musketeers' No. 1 singles player - has a 6-2 record and No. 3 singles player sophomore Daniella Patton is 4-2.
The Musketeers turned in a dominating performance in doubles play against the Bulldogs on Wednesday. Xavier won all three matches and lost only five points.
Xavier is 13-11 in doubles matches this year and has taken the four of the last five doubles points.
Friday's match will be just the third home contest of the season for the Musketeers who are 2-0 in those contests.
