Women's Tennis Looking To Extend Winning Streak

CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team hopes to carry its momentum from two victories last weekend into two matches this weekend. The Musketeers host Morehead State in a simultaneous match with the men on Friday before facing Indiana on Sunday.

Friday's night match will start at 7 p.m. at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club in Cincinnati. The men's team is also scheduled to face the Eagles at the same time.

Xavier will turnaround to play the Hoosiers beginning at 11 a.m. in the Indiana University Tennis Center.

The Musketeers picked up a dominant victory over Dayton on Saturday. The 7-0 sweep was the 12th-consecutive over the Flyers. Xavier then battled to a 4-3 win over Miami (Ohio) to give the team its third-straight win.

Freshman Alex Brinker was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie Performer of the Week for her effort, which included two singles and two doubles victories. She is 4-1 on the year and has won each match in straight sets.

Junior Andrea Wolf and senior Katie Pleiman each have a three-match winning streak going in to weekend play.

In doubles play the Musketeers have a 7-8 dual match record and have used the same combinations in all five matches this year. Sophomore Daniella Patton and Wolf are the only duo with a .500 or better record.
