CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis team looks forward to their first BIG EAST season. Under the leadership of seniors Allyson Westling and Andrea Wolf, the team opens with a dual match against Indiana on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Western Tennis and Fitness Club. Following this match, the Musketeers go right back at it on the road at Miami (Ohio) on Jan. 26th.

"Our girls look forward to our regular season beginning next weekend against Indiana and Miami (OH)," said head coach Eric Toth. "We will be certainly challenged right from the start and also, pretty much every time we take to the court this year. We will encounter new rivalries playing in the BIG EAST, which creates added excitement to this year's regular season. Our focus will be to take each match one at a time, deal well with the ups and downs a team goes through throughout the course of a long season, and work hard to improve throughout the year so we are playing our best tennis at the end of the year when it matters most."

Xavier's first BIG EAST match is on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 against Butler at Western Tennis and Fitness Club. The team will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. in March to battle Davidson and Florida Atlantic. Finally, the season wraps up the 2014 season with the BIG EAST Championship April 24-27, 2014 in Queens, N.Y. at the USTA National Tennis Center.

During the 2013 fall season, both newcomers Cristina Di Lorenzo and Sydney Liggins posted winning records of 6-2 and 5-3. Liggins was the only Musketeer to make it to the second round of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship. The doubles pairing of Westling and Wolf posted a 5-1 record, finishing on a five match win streak. All four women are looking to continue their performances this spring season.
