Liggins Is Lone Musketeer Remaining In Championship Contention at USTA/ITA Regionals

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After day two of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship, only one Musketeer, Sydney Liggins, remains after winning her only match of the day.
Liggins faced Eastern Ketucky's Kristina Labeja and took care of business in true Musketeer fashion beating her in two, 6-1, 6-4. She will continue her play Sunday, Oct. 20 at 11:00 a.m. (CT) against Memphis's Caroline Wegner.
To start the day, the doubles team of Alex Brinker and Liggins faced the No. 6 seeded team of the doubles tournament, Memphis's Alyssa Hibberd and Caroline Wegner, but the Memphis duo prevailed, 8-6. In a consolation match, Brinker and Liggins played Miami's (Ohio) Christine Guerazzi and Alix Thurman and come out on top, 8-6. The duo continues on in consolation play at 8:00 a.m. (CT) against Eastern Tennessee State's Lyn Yee Choo and Anna Gerbasi.
In singles competition, Brinker faced Vanderbilt's Georgina Sellyn and went down, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. Daniella Patton and Lizzie Oosterbaan also lost, sending them in to consolation matches on Sunday, Oct. 20. Oosterbaan takes on Evansville's Marketa Trousilova at 11:00 a.m. (CT), Brinker plays Kristen Lewis from Kentucky at 12:30 p.m. (CT), and Patton plays at 1:00 p.m. (CT) against Briar Preston of Morehead State.
