Women's Tennis Just Misses Qualifying For The Main Draw

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Xavier had four women competing in the qualifying rounds of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship. Cristina Di Lorenzo and doubles pair Allyson Westling and Andrea Wolf were able to pull out a first-round win to give them the opportunity to enter the main draw, where they both dropped matches.
Di Lorenzo defeated Marina Moreno from Evansville, 6-2, 7-5, and lost her second match of the day to Flavia Nagayama from Middle Tennessee State, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Tomorrow begins main draw play for the Musketeers who still have four women competing. Doubles play begins at 9:00 a.m. (CT) with Alex Brinker and Sydney Liggins taking on Alyssa Hibberd and Caroline Wegner, the No. 6 seeded doubles team in the tournament.
Lizzie Oosterbaan is the first up for the Musketeers in the main draw singles playing at 1:00 p.m. (CT) against Vanderbilt's Frances Altick. Follwing her is Alex Brinker against Georgina Sellyn of Vanderbilt and 2:30 p.m. (CT). At 3:00 p.m. (CT) Daniella Patton meets Aldila Sutjiadi from the University of Kentucky. Finally, Sydney Liggins plays at 5:00 p.m. (CT) against Eastern Ketucky's Kristina Labeja. The winner will advance on to play on Sunday, Oct. 20.
