CINCINNAT -- Xavier freshman Allyson Westling won the Flight B singles final at the Queen City Invitational Sunday at the Queen City Racquet Club. Westling defeated West Virginia's Ashley Pilsbury 6-1, 7-6 in the final.

"I felt we competed awfully hard all weekend and played some pretty good tennis," said Xavier head coach Eric Toth. "We probably fell short from what my expectations are as far as pulling out some of the closer matches we had this weekend. This is an area we are going to have to improve upon if we are going to have the successful season that we want to have. I was really encouraged by our doubles play over the weekend and am really happy for Ally Westling for pulling out her flight in singles. Ally has been really solid this fall and will be a major contributor for us this season."

In doubles play, the duo of seniors Christie Pleiman and Kelsey Kinnard fell in the B flight finals to Cincinnati's Lindsey Lonergan and Caitlin O'Gara 8-3.

The women's tennis team will take a well-deserved off week before closing the fall season at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in Knoxville, Tenn. October 15 through 17.
