Miami (Ohio) Invitational Final Day Shows Doubles Competition Strength

OXFORD, Ohio - The Musketeers battled Louisville in singles and Miami and Bowling Green in doubles on the final day of the Miami (Ohio) Invitational.
Doubles competition is where the Musketeers showed their skills today. Danielle Patton and Cristina Di Lorenzo helped Xavier to its 2-1 record over Bowling Green by defeating the pair of Fillis and Drayton, 8-5. Adding to Xavier's record over Bowling Green, Andrea Wolf and Allyson Westling defeated Plaszewski and Hutchison 8-5. Against Miami, the pairing of Lizzie Oosterbaan and Wolf gave Xavier their only victory by beating the duo of Heerden and Costea, 8-6.
In singles competition, Louisville rose to the occasion beating Xavier, 5-1. Sydney Liggings defeated Olivia Boesing, 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (10-6), preventing the Louisville sweep.
For the tournament the Musketeers went 5-15 in singles competition and 4-6 in doubles.
The next tournament on the schedule for the Musketeers is the USTA/ITA Fall Regional Championships held in Memphis, Tenn., from Oct. 18-22.
