Day One Of Miami Invitational Is In The Books For Women's Tennis

OXFORD, Ohio – On day one at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational the team competed against Bowling Green and Miami in singles and Louisville in doubles. The Musketeers had a strong showing against Bowling Green going 3-3. Then had a rough time going 1-7 against Miami and 1-2 against Louisville.
Cristina Di Lorenzo, a freshman, put forth a strong effort. She went 2-0 in singles competition defeating Miami’s Ana Rajkovic and Bowling Green’s Hannah Drayton.
Alex Brinker and Lizzie Oosterbaan were able to pull out wins against Bowling Green. Brinker defeated Nikki Chiricosta, 6-1, 6-3, and Oosterbaan defeated Hannah Drayton in a three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-0).
Xavier didn't fair as well against Miami, but Di Lorenzo gave Xavier a win in this battle. Freshman Sydney Liggins demonstrated she will not go down without a fight. Liggins fell to Miami’s Andreea Badileanu in a three set thriller, 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
Xavier looks to go back to work tomorrow on the courts at 9 a.m. on the campus of Miami University.
