Xavier Women's Tennis Came Ready To Play Over The River

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- The women's tennis team came to play on the second and final day of the Northern Kentucky Invitational. In singles play, two Musketeers, Caitlin Lawless and Allyson Westling, made it to the finals of their flight.
Lawless had a very strong showing today in her singles play. She earned a spot in the finals of flight four by taking the semi-final match from Belmont's Abbie Mather in a three set thriller, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9). In the finals, she defeated Northern Kentucky's Nicole Soutar 6-3, 3-0, to win the flight.
Westling also earned a spot in the flight six finals by defeating Belmont's Maddie Gilley 6-1, 6-0. She fell short in the finals to Northern Kentucky's Sierra Nellessen, 6-4, 6-2.
Megan Morris went 1-1 for the day with her win being from a, exciting three set match against Morehead State's Kennedy Womack. Brooke Dennis went 2-1 on the day with a slow start dropping her first match. She managed to pick up her game to win her final two matches of the day.
With a strong first tournament of the season in the books, the Musketeers look onto the next tournament. The Miami (OH) Invitational will take place September 28-29, 2013.
