Xavier Earns Three Single, Two Double Wins At Milwaukee Tennis Classic

FOX POINT, Wis. - For the second-straight day the Xavier women's tennis team picked up three singles victories against Marquette and two doubles matches against Detroit at the 37th Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Saturday.

Freshman Alex Brinker and sophomore Daniella Patton each won their singles matches for the second straight day. Also winning their singles match was junior Andrea Wolf for the Musketeers.

Brinker beat Marquette's Ana Pimienta (6-2, 6-3) to remain unbeaten in her four sets this year. Patton went three lengthy sets to earn her victory. Patton won the first set (6-3), lost the second set by the same score and bounced back to win the third set in tiebreaking fashion.

Wolf beat Ali Dawson to earn his first victory of the year. All other matches were relatively untested by the Musketeers.

Alkire and Brinker joined forces for the second-straight day to down Detroit's Elena Strakhova and Valeryia Kulikouskaya, 9-8. Patton teamed up with junior Ally Westling to take down Julia Fernandes and Nino Sujashvili, 8-5.

The Musketeers will face Western Michigan in doubles play to start the day. They conclude the tournament with singles matches against Detroit.
