Xavier Defeats Northern Kentucky, 7-0

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Xavier women's tennis team picked up its second win in as many days with a 7-0 sweep of Northern Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon at the Yeager Tennis Complex.
The Musketeers pushed their season record to 16-4 and have one match remaining in the regular season.
"Today we did what we had to do in terms of execution to earn the win," head coach Eric Toth said. "We need one more strong performance at St. Bonaventure on Saturday to ready us for our championships in Charlottesville next week."
Alex Brinker, who picked up her third Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor on Tuesday, stepped into the number one spot for the first time of the season and won in straight sets. She extended her singles victory streak to 19.
Brinker's victory was one of six straight-set singles wins for the Musketeers on the day. Also picking wins were Kally Alkire, Daniella Patton, Lizzie Oosterbaan, Caitlin Lawless and Allyson Westling. The closest results in any of those matches were two 6-4 sets.
Xavier also picked up the doubles point with three victories. Alkire and partner Brooke Dennis won at the top spot while Patton and Westling combined for a win at No. 2 doubles. Brinker and classmate Megan Morris won at the No. 3 position.
The Musketeers final match of the season will be played Saturday in Olean, N.Y. First serve is schedule for 11 a.m.
