Women's Tennis Comes up Short versus Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Xavier University women's tennis faced a stiff test on Wednesday afternoon as the Musketeers were defeated 6-1 by Ohio State University at the Stickney Tennis Center on the OSU campus. XU falls to 10-8 overall while the Buckeyes raise their record to 11-7.

Ohio State recorded the first point of the match with a sweep in doubles competition. At No. 1, XU's Kristen Clary and Kara Courtney fell 8-4 to Angela DiPastina and Sonia Ruzimovsky. Sarah Potts and Emily Tuchscherer were defeated 8-5 by Ciara Finucane and Kristin Messmer at No. 2. In the third doubles position, Jeanette Feider and Kate Lohner dropped an 8-4 decision to Julie Blackmore and Emily Howard.

In singles action, Sarah Potts posted the lone win of the afternoon for Xavier as the senior defeated Nidhi Shah in straight sets at No. 6, 6-4, 6-2. Potts improves to 21-5 on the season including a 11-4 mark in spring matches at No. 6.

Xavier will be back in action on Tuesday, April 11, when the Musketeers travel to Fairborn, Ohio to take on the Raiders of Wright State University.
