Women's Tennis Records Its Fourth Shutout With A Win Over Dayton

CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team recorded their fourth shutout of the season with a, 7-0, win over Dayton at home Saturday night. Daniella Patton, Andrea Wolf and Lizzie Oosterbaan defeated their opponents in true Musketeer fashion with shutouts as well.
In singles competition, Patton defeated Katie Shepherd, 6-0, 6-0, Wolf beat Lily Iffert, 6-0, 6-0, and Oosterbaan sealed the deal by defeating Claire Herdina, 6-0, 6-0. Sydney Liggins, competing at the No. 1 spot, beat Alex Townsend, 6-2, 6-0. Alex Brinker took the match from Sammi Hornbarger, 6-0, 6-1, and Cristina Di Lorenzo defeated Mandy Marchant, 6-0, 6-3.
As for doubles, Di Lorenzo and Patton recorded an, 8-0, victory over Katie Boechman and Toensend, while Allyson Westling and Wolf recorded a win over Hornbarger and Iffert, 8-1.
"Our girls played well and did what did we had to do to earn another win," said assistant coach Doug Matthews. "We have a big week next week and look forward to a couple of good days of practice to get ready for Cincinnati and Marquette."
Up next for the Musketeers is Cincinnati on Wednesday, March 26 at 3 p.m. The match will be played at UC's Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.
